The School of Sociology at ANU has an exciting program of research and teaching that combines the strengths of the conceptual and applied approaches of the discipline. The school's disciplinary strengths are in social, cultural and feminist theory; education; health; digital sociology; risk and consumption; and social research methods. Research and teaching themes that crosscut these disciplinary strengths include embodiment and new technologies; reproduction; mobilities; political economy; surveillance; media politics; gender and sexuality; the changing nature of work, and, inequalities. Staff hold a range of category 1 and 2 grants and are engaged in diverse interdisciplinary collaborations, both national and international.
We particularly encourage applicants with a demonstrated capacity to contribute to one or more of the following areas; Introduction to Sociology; Gender and Sexuality; Digital Sociology and Social Research Methods.
The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both.
